History

The George Myer Company opened its doors in 1953 as George and Ruth Myer saw an opportunity in the market for a Houston based stocking wholesale distributor of small hydraulic fittings and adaptors. George bought large quantities of fittings from manufactures across the country and sold them regionally (Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma).  Primary  markets were hydraulic hose

George Myer Company moved to its present location in 1962 and after two expansions is the building you see today. 1974 is when George saw new opportunities on the manufacturing side of the industry. The industry needed large permanent end fittings that could be applied at the distributor level. This gave the distributor the flexibility to quickly supply custom lengths of hose without the cost of having to stock multiple lengths of factory assemblies. The product line grew from a few custom built fittings to a complete line of GMCO Brand Industrial Hose Fittings up to 12”.
distributors and OEM’s that manufactured equipment that used large quantities of hydraulic hose. Over the years the product line grew to include hydraulic hoses, complete hose assemblies, brass fittings, needle valves, drain cocks, tubing & hose clamps, PE & copper tubing. GMCO soon became one of the largest stocking distributors in Texas. Just about every thing you could think of, George had it, and if he didn’t, he would find it.
in 1995, George Myer Company was sold to the current ownership. Since that date, the company has refocused its efforts into becoming the premier large bore, high pressure-fitting manufacturer. In 1996, we began pioneering the use of swage fittings in the oil drilling market. We have developed swage fittings for slim hole drilling hose (2,000 psi & 3,000 psi), Grade C drilling hose (4,000 psi), Grade D drilling hose (5,000 psi) and Grade E drilling hose (7,500 psi). Since this introduction, drilling industry has gone from 100% factory built-in ends on Grade D and E hoses to approximately 70% of the total North

We have also added three other lines of GMCO Swaged Fittings in these years. These include a complete GMCO High-Pressure line, GMCO Hydraulic Fitting line. As always, George Myer still offers complete specialized hose assemblies for its distributors. In 2000, George Myer discontinued all the small fittings and adapters that had started the company with in 1953. This allowed us to concentrate completely on our manufactured products.
